Prompt: Please post the process of taking your colleague’s lesson and supercharging it with tech as your Blog reflection.
For Rene’s lesson plan, I realized he had formatted into a 3 day lesson. My job was then on Supercharging a lesson plan about Earth Science: Layers of the Earth and their properties. Standard: Earth Science Grades 6 #1b: Students know Earth is composed of several layers: a cold, brittle lithosphere; a hot, convecting mantle; and a dense, metallic core. My Recommendations: My first recommendation about this particular lesson was that Rene incorporate more internet into the lesson so that students could do some of their own research. Assessment: I recommended that Rene use Kahoot for the assessment. This would allow Rene to see the students comprehension of the lesson being taught. This tool would also create some excitement about the lesson. Homework: I recommended that students go to the following link: http://study.com/academy/lesson/composition-of-earths-internal-layers-crust-mantle-and-core.html After watching the video, they would take the online assessment to check for understanding. I finally recommended that the students create a presentation using google slides so that all students would be able to share what they learned with their teacher as well as with the class.
